Current statistics demonstrate that 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental illness and at some point, all of us will experience knowing someone who has struggled with their mental health. Mental health challenges may include things such as a stressful workplace, navigating difficult relationships, caregiver stress, experiencing personal health issues, or everyday struggles. Our Social Work team is here to help you or your loved ones with these challenges by providing a safe environment for you to discuss these concerns and to establish goals and a plan to help you work through these challenges.
In addition to individual, couples, and family counselling, the Social Workers at the Health Centre are actively involved in a number of group programs. Examples of some of these groups in the past have included:
• Coffee Time (drop-in)
*Please refer to our monthly calendar to determine which of these programs are currently running.
Please note that the Social Work program accepts referrals for counselling from a number of sources which may include:
• Self referral
Once a referral is received, one of our Social Workers will contact you to gain further information to help us assist in linking you to the most appropriate resource which may include one of our Social Workers or one of our community partners.
Please note that effective immediately, our Social Work team will be partnering with local children’s mental health agencies to provide service for our community’s youth.
